FAQs

How much are sessions?

  • 45-50 minute sessions are $195 payable at the beginning of the session by cash or check.

How can I make payments?

  • I accept cash or check payable at the time of service. I do not take credit cards.

Do you take insurance?

  • I am currently an “out-of-network” provider. Out-of-network coverage varies by insurance carrier and policy. I encourage you to call your insurance company, if you choose to seek reimbursement, to find out your exact mental health coverage. If you wish to submit out of network claims to your insurance company, please let me know at the start of therapy and I will provide a SUPERBILL. This is a mental health receipt for services that would specify the codes necessary for you to receive reimbursement for services based on your out-of-network benefit schedule.
  • If you are interested in filing out of network insurance, I will give you a receipt with all the necessary information for you to submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement.
  • Note: Some counseling clients prefer not to file for reimbursement for confidentiality reasons since we have to provide the insurance company with a mental health diagnosis.

Where are you located?

  • My office address is 22 West Padonia Rd., Suite C-353, Timonium, MD 21093. It is conveniently located off of 83.

When do you schedule appointments?

  • I typically have late afternoon and evening appointments available.

How long is a session?

  • Typically, sessions are 50 minutes long. I offer longer sessions to couples and families that are in crisis and need more time.

How often will I see you?

  • I typically meet with my clients weekly. Some clients are seen twice a week for more intensive sessions.

How do I make an appointment?

  • Please visit the Scheduling a Consultation Section. You may also email me any questions at info@gretchenforbes.com. The initial appointment is consultative in nature. During that time you will share more about what you are looking for and I will offer feedback about my approach and how I can help you.  From there we would mutually assess if it is a good fit for continuing to meet.

What are the Good Faith Estimate and No Surprise Act?

    • As of Jan 1, 2022 there is a new law, referred to as the No Surprise Act. As a health care provider this law applies to me and I am required to notify all healthcare consumers of your Federal rights and protections against “surprise billing”. Please click here for a Disclosure Notice from the Department of Health and Human Services. If we decide to work together, I will be giving you a “Good Faith Estimate” or GFE. This is an estimate of what could be owed for the year if we were to meet at an anticipated interval. Visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises for more information about your rights under federal law or if you think you’ve been wrongly billed.
